Marnus Labuschagne achieved this feat in the ongoing second Ashes 2025-26 test between Australia and England in Brisbane.

After making a successful comeback to the test team in the Ashes opener in Perth, Australia’s No. 3 Marnus Labuschagne would have been eager to resume playing after missing the West Indies series. Labuschagne scored an undefeated half-century in the second innings after being cheaply removed in the first.

He came into the second Ashes 2025-26 test between Australia and England, which got underway at the Gabba Stadium in Brisbane, with 958 runs in day-night tests, and was just 42 runs away from becoming the first player to reach the milestone of 1,000 runs in pink-ball matches.

After scoring four hundreds and as many fifties in nine pink-ball contests, he averaged 63.86 in 15 innings during day-night tests. The previous time Australia faced Australia in a day-night test in Adelaide, Labuschagne got a half-century.
