[Watch] Match fixing in Kolkata Club Cricket? Shreevats Goswami makes massive allegation
Shreevats Goswami shared couple of videos on social media hinting at match fixing in Kolkata Club Cricket.
Former India U-19 World Cup winner Shreevats Goswami is among the news again and this time for calling out Kolkata Club Cricket. Goswami, who was part of India’s U19 World Cup side in 2008, played in the IPL for top franchises like RCB, KKR, SRH and RR. Goswami also represented Bengal in First Class (FC) cricket till 2022 before moving to Mizoram. Goswami retired from FC cricket in November 2023 and has started other T20 Leagues like “Legends Cricket League” since then.
This time around, Goswami is in the news for alleging match fixing in Kolkata Club Cricket. The former Bengal wicket-keeper batter took it to Facebook to allege match fixing in the Kolkata Club Cricket. On Wednesday, 28th February, 2024, Goswami posted a video on Facebook of a match between two big sides in a super division game.
In the video shared by Goswami, it can be seen that a batter is deliberately leaving ball on middle and off-stump line to lose his wicket. In the second video, a batter was seen deliberately leaving the crease to get stumped. Goswami attacked the attitude of players in the league and accused of match fixing in the CAB’s prestigious local tournament in Kolkata.
Shreevats Goswami posted on Facebook, “This is super division match in Kolkata club cricket , 2 big teams doing this , any idea what’s going on here ? I am ashamed to see this having played the game which is so close to my heart . I love cricket and I love playing in Bengal but looking at this breaks my heart .Club cricket is heart & soul of Bengal cricket please don’t ruin it. I think this is called “got up “ cricket.”

After Goswami’s post went viral across social media, CAB President Snehasish Ganguly has asked reports about the game from umpires. CAB President said, “We have called a tournament committee meeting on March 2 to take up the matter.” Cricket Association of Bengal will be taking up the matter in committee meeting on 2nd March and then a course of action will be decided.
