Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) are locking horns in the 60th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on May 16. After being asked to bat first, KKR piled up a gigantic total of 247/2.
After losing Ajinkya Rahane cheaply in the powerplay, Finn Allen led the batting from the front. With the help of 10 sixes, he slammed 93 runs off 35 deliveries and etched a stand of 95 runs with Angkrish Raghuvanshi.
After Allen’s dismissal, Raghuvanshi (82*) and Cameron Green (52*) helped KKR to reach a mammoth total. However, KKR suffered a big blow in the second innings as pacer Matheesha Pathirana sustained a serious injury.

Pathirana, who came in as an impact player, sustained an injury in the second innings. The Sri Lankan pacer suffered some issues while bowling the sixth over.
He loked in pain had a chat with the team physio. He was struggling to walk and left the field midway after delivering only two balls. His over was completed by Saurabh Dubey.
Notably, this was the first game of Pathirana in IPL 2026. He missed the initial games as he was recovering from a similar injury he sustained in T20 World Cup 2026. He joined the KKR squad on April 18 but was kept out of the playing XI until tonight’s clash.
Meanwhile, the Ajinkya Rahane & Co. have three more games left in the league stage including tonight’s clash. They need to win all of them to be able to book a berth in the playoffs. On the other hand, Gujarat will become the first team to reach the playoffs if they defeat KKR at Eden Gardens.
