[Watch] Matheesha Pathirana removes Aiden Markram's middle stump with a 147kmph yorker
Aiden Markram scored 32 before Matheesha Pathirana removed him.
In match No. 46 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star overseas pacer Matheesha Pathirana bowled a stunning yorker to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Aiden Markram, which uprooted his middle stump and ended his fighting knock of 32 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 28.
After winning the toss and opting to field first, Hyderabad bowlers had a awful night as CSK posted a big total of 212/3 in 20 overs. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (98) and Daryl Mitchell (52) contributed to the team’s total with their respective half-centuries. Toward the end, Shivam Dube unleashed his beast mode and hammered a quick-fire 39* off 20 deliveries to help the hosts post a big total.
While chasing 213, Hyderabad had a bad start as they lost four batters – Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Anmolpreet Singh, and Nitish Reddy inside first 10 overs. However, former Hyderabad skipper Aiden Markram continued to put up a fight from the other end.
With the hosts looking to take Markarm wicket, Ruturaj brought his strike bowler Pathirana into the attack to bowl the 11th over.
In the fifth ball of the over, the CSK speedster bowled an outstanding yorker at the middle stump, which clocked at 147 kmph. Markram, who was looking to drive the ball, missed it as the ball crashed onto his middle stump. During his stay at the crease, Markarm scored 26-ball 32 with four boundaries.
