Jay Shah also revealed the injury status of Mayank Yadav.

Young speedster Mayank Yadav grabbed the attention of the cricketing world with his express pace during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The right-arm speedster, who was with Lucknow Super Giants since the 2022 season, finally got to make his debut in the IPL 2024 edition.

Mayank made his IPL debut against the Punjab Kings on March 30, 2024. The Lucknow pacer delivered a match-winning performance by taking three wickets.

In the next match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Mayank once again dismissed three batters and also won the Player of the Match Award for his stunning performance.

Notably, Mayank bowled around 150 kmph consistently with precise line and length, which caught the eyes of many pundits. However, the 22-year-old suffered an abdominal injury during the 2024 tournament and was ruled out of the rest of the season.

Many cricket experts and fans believed that Mayank could make his debut for the Indian cricket team soon and should be part of the squad for the Australia test series later this year.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has provided a crucial update regarding Mayank’s injury and whether he would be part of the Australia test series.

There is no guarantee whether he will be in the team: Jay Shah

Recently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah revealed that the 22-year-old Yadav is at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Shah further added that there is no guarantee over his selection and availability for the trip to Australia. Shah, though, asserted that Mayank could have a bright future.

“I cannot give you any answer on Mayank Yadav as there is no guarantee whether he will be in the team or not. But he is potentially a good fast bowler, and we are looking after him. He is currently in the NCA,” Jay Shah told TOI.
