Mayank Yadav has been out of action since getting injured during the IPL 2024.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) speedster Mayank Yadav made it to the headlines when he made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut against Punjab Kings (PBKS) with his outstanding spell of 3/27 in the 2024 edition.

In his next outing, Mayank once again delivered a match-winning performance against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and bagged match figures of 3/14. The right-arm speedster was adjudged Player of the Match.

In his first two IPL 2024 games, Mayank showcased his skills along with his raw pace, clocking consistently over 150 kmph. Many cricket pundits hailed the youngster for bowling accurately with such raw pace.

In LSG’s next match against Gujarat Titans, the 22-year-old Mayank complained of abdominal pain. He then missed a few league matches for LSG. The right-arm speedster returned to LSG’s playing XI against Mumbai Indians, but once again went off the field after bowling 3.1 overs.

Mayank once again complained of abdominal pain, and later on it was revealed that the 22-year-old has abdominal muscle tear, which ruled him out of the remainder of the IPL 2024 edition.

Recently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah revealed that Mayank is currently at the National Cricket Academy, but, since he isn’t a contracted player, there isn’t guarantee if he will be selected in the team. Shah further said that the board and management see potential in him.

Mayank Yadav is made to bowl, followed by rehab session: Devendra Sharma

Among all these, recently, Sonnet club coach Devendra Sharma, who mentored the 22-year-old Mayank Yadav in the past, shared update on Mayank Yadav’s fitness. Devendra shared that Mayank is made to bowl in the morning, followed by a rehab session and exersie routine.

“Like in the morning, he is made to bowl, followed by rehab session and exercise routine. After this, he again does his bowling in the nets. All of this is something which he is doing there on a daily basis, as per what he told me,” Devendra said as quoted by Times of India.

Devendra further revealed that he asked Mayank about not putting his name in the Duleep Trohy squads. To which the speedster replied, he was asked not to put much load on his body.

“He bowls eight-ten overs daily, and I did ask him why he wasn’t named in Duleep Trophy squads. To this, Mayank replied, ‘Sir, I have been told not to go into it as I can’t put too much load on my body and concentrate on white-ball cricket for now’,” he added.
