W, W, W! Mehedi Hasan Rana takes a hat-trick for Noakhali Express in BPL 2025-26

Mehedi Hasan Rana’s hat-trick went in vain as Sylhet Titans won by one wicket on the last ball of the match.

Mehedi Hasan Rana was the star of the recent Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2025-26) encounter between Noakhali Express and Sylhet Titans that was played on December 27, 2025, at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Sylhet Titans captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and put Noakhali Express to bat first. Mohammad Amir and Khaled Ahmed worked together as three of the first four batters of Noakhali- Maaz Sadaaqat, Habibur Rahman Sohan, and Haider Ali- fell for ducks.

Mahidul Islam Ankon top-scored with 61 runs, while Jaker Ali made 29 and captain Shykat Ali made 24 runs, as Noakhali Express posted 143/7 in 20 overs. Sylhet’s Khaled Ahmed took 4/23, while Saim Ayub took two wickets.

In response, Hasan Mahmud rocked the Sylhet top order, removing openers Saim Ayub and Rony Talukdar for single-digit scores. Parvez Hossain Emon anchored on end, scoring 60 in 41 balls with six sixes and two fours, while others batted around him.

Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz made 33, and Ethan Brookes made 13 as Sylhet Titans barely reached the finish line with one wicket in hand on the last ball of the match, winning by one wicket.

Mehedi Hasan Rana’s hat-trick in 18th over give Noakhali Express some hope

Amidst this tight encounter, Mehedi Hasan Rana was brought in to the attack in the 18th over as Sylhet needed 24 runs from 18 balls. The pressure was on the bowler, as the match seemed to be slipping away from Noakhali.  

Mehedi Hasan Rana let up five runs in his first three deliveries, but what came next radically altered the game’s trajectory and thrilled the audience.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the captain of the Sylhet Titans, was dismissed by Rana on the fourth ball of the over, severing a crucial partnership. On the next ball, he trapped Nasum Ahmed leg before wicket with another brilliant delivery.

On the last ball of the over, Mehedi Hasan Rana accomplished an incredible hat-trick as the field was humming and expectations were increasing. Ahmed was tempted to play a big shot but ultimately found the fielder.

By taking four wickets for 34 runs at the end of his spell, Rana reduced the equation to 19 runs off 12 balls and kept Noakhali Express in the game.

But despite Rana’s valiant effort, the Sylhet Titans held their composure and defeated Noakhali by a single wicket.
