Throughout the year, the game witnessed fierce rivalries reignited, iconic venues hosting classics, and players rising to the occasion when it mattered the most. From last-ball finishes and nail-biting thrillers to record-breaking chases, every format of the game delivered high-quality entertainment.

International cricket saw gripping Test matches, high-pressure ODI contests, and explosive T20 encounters. On the other hand, domestic leagues around the world added their own flavour with packed stadiums, electric atmospheres, and emerging superstars announcing themselves on the big stage.

Batting first, LSG posted a massive 228 runs, led by skipper Rishabh Pant, who played a sensational unbeaten 118 off 61 balls, dismantling the RCB bowling attack.

The chase was always going to be challenging. Virat Kohli anchored the innings with another composed fifty, but as wickets began to fall regularly, RCB found themselves under serious pressure.

Just when the game seemed to be slipping away, stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma rose to the occasion with an extraordinary knock. His breathtaking 85 off just 33 balls turned the match on its head, powering RCB to their highest-ever successful run chase.

One match that fans will never forget is the thrilling encounter between the Punjab Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders at Chandigarh. Batting first, PBKS suffered a dramatic collapse and were bowled out for just 111 in 15.3 overs, a total that looked far from competitive.

With such a modest target on the board, KKR were widely expected to cruise to an easy victory and, for a while, their chase appeared to be on track. However, the game turned on its head thanks to a sensational bowling performance from Yuzvendra Chahal and Marco Jansen.

The Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final between India and Australia turned out to be a high-quality contest that lived up to the occasion. Batting first, Australia were restricted to 264 runs, thanks to a disciplined bowling effort from the Indian attack.

Steve Smith anchored the innings with a well-paced 73 off 96 balls, while Alex Carey provided valuable support with a brisk 61 off 57, helping Australia post a competitive total. In reply, India suffered an early setback, losing two quick wickets, which brought pressure on the chase.

However, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer steadied the innings with a calm and composed partnership. Kohli once again rose to the big stage, scoring a crucial 84 off 98 balls, while Iyer chipped in with a steady 45 off 62.

England eventually fell short by just 8 runs, and at this point, it could hardly be called an upset, as Afghanistan continue to make a habit of defeating top teams on the big stage.

In reply, Australia also suffered a collapse and could manage only 132, keeping the contest evenly poised. England fared even worse in their second innings, getting bowled out for 164 and setting Australia a target of 205. This time, the hosts made no mistakes and chased the target comfortably, losing only two wickets.

Travis Head played a sensational innings, smashing 123 off just 83 balls. Mitchell Starc was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance, picking up seven wickets in the first innings and three more in the second.

The fourth Ashes Test was one to remember, as the match concluded in just two days. Australia had already won the first three matches of the series, ensuring the retention of the Ashes trophy. However, in the Boxing Day Test, batting first, Australia were bowled out for just 152 runs.

In reply, England also suffered a batting collapse and were dismissed for an even lower total of 110. Australia held a slim lead of 42 runs but failed to build on it in the second innings, getting bowled out for 132.

The fifth and final Test between England and India at The Oval was one of the most important matches of the year. England were leading the series 2–1, and India needed a win to level the series. Batting first, India were bowled out for 224. England responded with 247, taking a narrow lead of 23 runs.

In the second innings, India produced a remarkable comeback by scoring 396 runs, with Yashasvi Jaiswal leading the charge with a brilliant century. England were then set a challenging target of 374 to win.

They came agonisingly close, but the brilliance of Mohammed Siraj turned the game in India’s favour, as England fell just 6 runs short. Siraj was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance, picking up nine wickets across both innings.
