English pacer Jofra Archer has played only 5 games in two years for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

English paceman Jofra Archer was bought by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. Mumbai Indians spent 8 crores on Archer. There was a buzz over Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer bowling in partnership for Mumbai Indians. This is still a dream after two seasons are almost gone. Archer got injured in the 2022 season, and now Bumrah is out of the action due to injury. Even Archer didn’t look 100 percent fit and had to fly back to England in the mid IPL season. Archer has played only 5 games in these two years. Yet, Mumbai Indians are eager to keep Archer in their setup.

This deal will make an impact on Cricket

According to a few media reports, Jofra Archer has been offered a multimillion-pound deal that can bring a lot of change to the game of cricket. After this deal, the ECB will have to seek Mumbai Indians permission for Archer’s participation in international cricket for England. MI have offered Archer a full-time contract If this deal is done, then it will pave the way for the other franchises to own a player and take control of international cricket in their hand. The amount of the contract offered by Mumbai Indians is still hidden. Jofra Archer has not taken part in much cricket in recent two years.

Pace bowler Archer has been continuously struggling with an elbow injury and he had to leave the IPL 2023 in mid-way due to a problem in his elbow once again. Archer is also part of MI Cape town in SA20. He did take part in the entire SA20 tournament and bowled with his usual pace. Such deals look great for franchise cricket in times to come. If MI made this possible, others will follow the steps taken by MI and will pick players by their needs. This is also a threat to international cricket in the future.
