Australia decimated Team India in the World Test Championship Final at The Oval. They won the WTC Final by a huge margin of 209 runs. Since the defeat, there’s a churning going on in Indian cricket. Captain Rohit Sharma has come under scanner as a captain. Rohit has led Team India in the last two ICC events, and have lost both in crunch games like Semi-finals and Finals. India lost to England in the World T20 semi-final in 2022. Former Australian captain Michael Clarke has come out and supported Rohit Sharma’s ability as a skipper. Clarke has suggested being patient with Rohit Sharma as he has got a lot of success as a leader in the Indian Premier League.

Australia’s 2015 World Cup champion skipper Michael Clarke said, “I would be keeping faith with Rohit, I think he is a very good captain, I like his aggressive approach, he looks positive as he can be. He has had a lot of success as a leader, look at his record for Mumbai Indians, just because India didn’t win the World Test Championship Final doesn’t mean Rohit is not the right guy to lead India”. Rohit got the test captaincy after India’s tour of South Africa in January 2022. Virat Kohli left the captaincy after SA defeated India in a 3-test series and the BCCI decided to go with Rohit as a full-time captain.

Praising India’s ability in test cricket Clarke said, “The fact that India qualified again, they are the only team to make consecutive finals, says a lot about how they have played their Test over the past 4 years. It is also a very important time for stability with One Day right around the corner”. Talking about Rohit he added, “Since taking over as a captain he has won you a test series against Australia at Home, He has done well as a batter… losing one-off final doesn’t make him a bad captain”. Rohit has led Team India in only 7 test matches.
