Manav Suthar’s match winning spell led India to a famous victory in the SL vs IND first Test.
The Indian Cricket Team produced a memorable performance in the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium, winning by a massive margin of 165 runs. The match had a special significance, as it was India’s the 600th Test.
Having posted a mammoth 462 in the first innings and a 193 in the second, India did not just win by a single player’s contributions but by a joint effort from both their batters and bowlers. However, two players who set the tone for India’s triumph were Devdutt Padikkal and spinner Manav Suthar.
Though Padikkal was named the player of the match for his 167, which turned out to be two runs more than India’s win margin, Suthar was arguably the biggest difference-maker with the ball, especially on Day 5 of the first Test.
Returning with some extraordinary match figures in just his second game for India, Suthar’s contribution would be long cherished as one of India’s greatest match-winning efforts.
