13 Major milestones which Virat Kohli could achieve in IND vs WI ODIs

Virat Kohli will hold key for India in IND vs WI ODI series.

The West Indies are set to tour India for a three-match ODI series later this month. The first game will be played in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27, with the next two matches scheduled in New Delhi and Chandigarh.

The three matches will be important for India as the team prepares for the 2027 ODI World Cup. With Shubman Gill leading the side, India will look to get its combinations right and make the most of the ODI games at home.

Shubman Gill will lead the Indian side in the series, with several experienced players included in the squad. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are among the senior players returning to the ODI setup after a long break.

Kohli, in particular, will have more than just the three matches in front of him. He has several records within reach and could add some more big numbers to his ODI career during the IND vs WI ODI series.

Kohli currently has 14,941 runs in ODI cricket. This means he needs just 59 runs to reach 15,000 runs in the format.

Only Sachin Tendulkar has crossed the 15,000-run mark in men’s ODI cricket so far. Kohli could now join him if he gets those 59 runs during the West Indies series.

The milestone is also important because Kohli can become the fastest player to reach 15,000 ODI runs. He will have three matches to work towards this mark, starting with the opening ODI in Thiruvananthapuram.

The first ODI will give Kohli his opening chance to move closer to these numbers. The 59-run mark will be the first number to watch, as reaching it would take him to 15,000 ODI runs.

The other milestones will depend on how many runs and centuries he scores across the three games. With the series being played at home, Kohli will have three chances to add to his ODI records against West Indies.
