Mitchell Marsh hailed Rishabh Pant for his comeback to cricket after a near-fatal car accident.

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh expressed his thoughts on Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant ahead of the high-voltage Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Recently, Pant made a remarkable comeback to test cricket during the first test against Bangladesh in Chennai.

Pant suffered a life-threatening car accident in December 2022. He made a miraculous recovery and returned to international cricket before the timeline he was given earlier.

In his comeback test against Bangladesh, Pant made 39 in the first and slammed a stunning century in the second innings. His ton helped India win by a huge margin of 280 runs.

I wish Rishabh Pant was an Australian: Mitchell Marsh

Ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh heaped praise on Pant for his sensational comeback after his accident. Marsh named Pant as the Indian cricketer whom he feels is the most Australian.

“He’s a ripping bloke. I wish he was Australian. He’s obviously been through a lot the last few years. Hell of a comeback. He’s a positive guy, he’s still very young, he loves winning. He’s highly competitive for someone who, I guess, has the persona of being relaxed – always laughing and smiling. He has got that big smile,” Mitchell Marsh told Star Sports.

He’d be very enjoyable to play with: Travis Head on Pant

Australian batter Travis Head also hailed Pant for his aggressive batting instances.

“The Indian cricketer I believe is most Australian would be Rishabh Pant. I think the way he goes about his aggressive nature, the way he goes about his work, he’d be very enjoyable to play with,” Head commented.

The upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is crucial for both nations. India, who have clinched two consecutive series (2018-19 and 2020-21) in Australia, would be eyeing a hat-trick of series wins on Australian shores.

For Australia, the hosts will look to take revenge on India, and end their 10-year wait to claim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Australia last won the BGT series in 2014-15 in a home series.

India’s tour of Australia 2024-25 schedule:

November 22-26: 1st test, Perth Stadium, Perth (D)

December 6-10: 2nd test, Adelaide Oval, Adelaide (D/N)

December 14-18: 3rd test, The Gabba, Brisbane (D)

December 26-30: 4th test, MCG, Melbourne (D)

January 3-7: 5th Test, SCG, Sydney (D)
