Mitchell Marsh injury scare will leave a massive void for Australia in PAK vs AUS ODI series.
Australia’s National Cricket Team could face a major setback ahead of their ODI series against Pakistan National Cricket Team. As per the reports in CODE Sports, captain Mitchell Marsh is likely to miss the start of the series due to injury concerns.
Australia will be playing a three-match ODI series against Pakistan from May 30, 2026, at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and the remaining two matches are set to be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on June 2 and June 4, respectively.
But the management may now have to make a late captaincy change after Marsh is likely to be unavailable for the series. Many of the core members of the squad are busy playing the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as the Australia will be fielding second string side in PAK vs AUS ODIs.
Mitchell Marsh to miss start of PAK vs AUS ODIs due to ankle niggle and fatigue

According to a report by CODE Sports, Mitchell Marsh is unlikely to be available for start of Australia’s ODI series against Pakistan. The reports suggest that he will miss games due to ankle niggle and fatigue. However, no official injury statement has been given by Cricket Australia, but they are already preparing for the leadership change before the tour gets started.
Marsh was originally named as the stand-in captain for this series in absence of ODI captain Pat Cummins, who is leading Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2026. Marsh, who played for Lucknow Super Giants in the league, had a terrific season.
The Australian opener slammed 563 runs in 13 games at an average of 43.31 and a strike rate of 163.18 to go with one century and three half-centuries. With the kind of form he was in, his absence will leave a massive void in Australia’s lineup.
Josh Inglis to captain in Pakistan vs Australia

With Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh unlikely to be available for the series, Cricket Australia is reportedly looking for Josh Inglis as their next option for Captaincy. According to the CODE Sports report, Australia’s “Fourth choice white-ball captain” could end up leading the side in Pakistan.
Josh Inglis is part of the squad for the Pakistan series and will be expected to take charge if Marsh’s unavailability is confirmed officially in the upcoming days. Inglis has already captained the side a couple of times, so it will be quite easy for the management to make him an interim captain for the series.
