Australian Cricket Team fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been breathing fire with the ball in the ongoing first ODI against the Indian Cricket Team. The opening game of the three-match series between the teams is taking place at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
Mitchell Starc, who made a comeback to the Australian ODI side after a long gap, took the new ball and tested the Indian openers. He bowled a five-over spell up front and was spot on with his lines and lengths, making life tough for Indian batters.
While he was magical with his new-ball spell, one thing that caught the attention of many was the first ball of the game that he bowled to Rohit Sharma. The speed gun noticed that the ball was clocked at 176.5 kmph — perhaps the fastest ever recorded in the history of ODI cricket.

This became the major talking point on the internet with many pointing out that it was an error from the speed gun. While it seemed an error, the Australian fast bowler bowled a fiery spell with an average speed of around 140 kilometres per hour. His fastest delivery was 145 kmph, which he bowled to Rohit Sharma.
Starc also provided Australia with a crucial breakthrough of Virat Kohli. The Indian batter bagged an eight-ball duck as the pacer bowled an outside off delivery to which the right-hander chased it and ended up edging it to Cooper Connolly.
Coming to the match, Indian batters failed to make an impact with the bat. Rohit and Virat, who were on a comeback, couldn’t score big. Shubman Gill on his first outing as a captain scored just 10, while Shreyas Iyer also managed just 11.
India managed just 27 runs for the loss of three wickets in the powerplay — their joint-worst performance since 2023 in ODI cricket.
