[Watch] Mitchell Starc castles Abhishek Sharma with unplayable delivery in IPL 2024 final

Mitchell Starc gave KKR an early advantage in the IPL 2024 final by dismissing Abhishek Sharma with a stunning delivery.

It was Travis Head in Qualifier 1 and now it was Abhishek Sharma who bore the brunt of Mitchell Starc‘s fiery as the left-arm Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) speedster knocked over Abhishek’s stumps in the first over of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 final.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins won the toss in the final on Sunday evening at Chepauk in Chennai. Cummins elected to bat first. SRH have had immense success batting first this season courtesy of Head and Abhishek.

In this game, though, the young Indian uncapped batsman couldn’t do much as he received an unplayable delivery from the lanky Australian seamer, who has once again given KKR an early advantage against SRH.

In Qualifier 1 in Ahmedabad, Starc had castled Head on the second ball of the first over. So in the final, it was Abhishek who took the strike in the first over. However, the result wasn’t too different this time either as Sharma managed only two runs and was bowled by the left-arm seamer.

Starc had a plan and he executed it perfectly. He bowled the first four balls well outside the off-stump and Sharma collected a couple of runs. On the fifth ball, Starc attacked the stumps and delivered a jaffa.

The ball shaped into Abhishek and pitched on the middle stump on length. Abhishek played a straight drive but with no feet movement. The ball, upon pitching, moved away just a little, but enough to beat Abhishek’s bat and rattled into the top of the off-stump. Starc and the KKR players were pumped up and they celebrated aggressively while the KKR supporters jumped out of their seats in joy of this early dismissal.

Starc once again proved why Gautam Gambhir and KKR spent such a huge amount on him. Famous for his big-match pedigree, Starc has delivered once again in a big game.
