Mitchell Starc has picked up 358 wickets in the 89 test matches for Australian cricket team so far.
Ahead of the high-voltage Border-Gavaskar Trophy against the Indian cricket team, Australian speedster Mitchell Starc has opened up about his retirement from test cricket.
The 34-year-old Starc has done well to keep himself away from any major injury in the past decade and has been almost always available for test cricket. He’s become one of Australia’s great pacers and has won ICC titles in all three formats.
Haven’t put any expiry date: Mitchell Starc on his test retirement
The 34-year-old Starc has expressed that he has no thoughts of taking retirement from test cricket as of now. The veteran pacer further added that he feels lucky to have played all three formats for a very long time and is looking forward to the upcoming Australian summer.
“I’ve been very lucky to play three formats for a very long time. How long that will continue, I’m not sure. The scheduling of three formats is getting harder and harder and finding blocks of time to spend time on my body is going to take away from others,” Starc said, as quoted by The Sydney Morning Herald.
Starc admitted that his body isn’t like England’s James Anderson, who played test cricket till the age of 42.
“Tests are still definitely the pinnacle for me and I think my body will play a part in that decision whenever it gets to it. I’m not someone like Jimmy who played until he was 40-odd and had incredible skills to swing it both ways. I’ve never been that bowler and there’s plenty of better bowlers around the country to fill that job. I’m really looking forward to this summer and I haven’t put any expiry date on anything just yet,” he added.
