[Watch] Mitchell Starc takes the quickest 5-fer in test cricket off just 15 balls in 3rd test against West Indies

Mitchell Starc picked six wickets for nine runs in second innings of the Kingston test.

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc registered the record for the quickest five-wicket haul in test cricket during the third test against West Indies. The encounter took place at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica.

Australia crushed West Indies by 176 runs in third test to win the three-match series 3-0. Earlier, Australia won the first test by 159 runs and the second test by 133 runs.

West Indies had a target of 204 runs in the third test. However, Mitchell Starc, who was playing his 100th test, unleashed his pace attack on the hosts and dismissed the first five batters to register the quickest five-wicket haul off just 15 deliveries. He picked a total of six wickets for nine runs during his spell.

In the second innings, Starc took the wickets of John Campbell, Mikyle Louis, Kevlon Anderson, Brandon King, Roston Chase, and Jayden Seales. Starc also reached the mark of 400 test wickets.

West Indies were all out for just 27 runs to lose the encounter. Earlier, Australia piled up 225/10 in the first innings. Shamar Joseph picked a four-wicket haul. West Indies were then bowled out for 143 runs.

In the second innings, Australia were all out for 121 runs, setting a 204-run target for the hosts. Alzzari Joseph clinched a five-wicket haul. However, West Indies succumbed to Starc’s pace attack in the second innings, registering the second-lowest total in test cricket.

Interestingly, no batter managed to score a half-century in the entire low-scoring encounter. Both teams will now clash in a five-match T20I series. The opening game will be played on July 20 at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica.
