Virat Kohli has been dismissed four times in test cricket by Mitchell Starc.

Australia speedster Mitchell Starc has lavished praise on modern-day legend Virat Kohli ahead of the high-voltage Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Kohli has a staggering record against the Aussies in the test format. The 35-year-old has scored 2042 runs in 25 tests at a brilliant average of 47.18 while facing Australia, and notched up eight centuries and five half-centuries.

In Australia, the former Indian captain has scored 1352 runs in 13 tests at an outstanding average of 54.08, with six centuries and four half-centuries.

When asked who is the most Australian-like Indian player, Starc picked Kohli and hailed the 35-year-old for his competitive spirit on the field. Starc added that Kohli has performed in important games for his country.

“I believe that Kohli is probably the most Australian-like in terms of performing in big games. The way he takes the game, the way he thinks about the game. Kohli loves getting into the contest which I think a lot of Australian players do,” Micthell Starc told Star Sports.

Kohli has scored 236 runs in 394 balls he has faced against Starc in test cricket till now. Starc has dismissed Kohli four times in the longest format.

The duo will come face to face later this year when Australia host India for a five-match test series, starting November 22. India are the current holders of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and have won the last four series between these two sides, including twice in Australia.

December 6-10: 2nd test, Adelaide Oval, Adelaide (D/N)

December 14-18: 3rd test, The Gabba, Brisbane (D)
