CSK's Moeen Ali hints on MS Dhoni's retirement plan in the IPL

Amidst speculations of MS Dhoni's retirement after IPL 2023, Moeen Ali hints on the CSK captain's future.

42 years old Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni is probably at the end of his cricket career. Already retired from International Cricket in 2020, Dhoni is at the business end of his IPL career as well. Fans are expecting that the IPL 2023 will be MS Dhoni’s last season in the league. Known for giving surprises, MS Dhoni might prolong his career for one more year in the IPL 2024. English All-rounder Moeen Ali has hinted that MS Dhoni ‘could definitely’ play in the next IPL season. Once Dhoni was asked in 2022 if this is his last season, to which he replied ‘Definitely Not’.

CSK teammate Moeen Ali has hinted toward the CSK Captain’s intention of playing in the IPL 2024. Moeen Ali said, “He could definitely play again next year”. Ali added, “The way he is playing, I don’t think It will be his batting that stops him from playing, even if it is two, three years time”. MS Dhoni has been batting brilliantly in the IPL 2023. Ali said, “I was not surprised at how he played against RR, I have been watching him in the nets, and he’s been batting unbelievably well”. Dhoni smashed two consecutive sixes against Sandeep Sharma in the final over against RR while chasing 20 runs in 6 balls.

CSK Captain has scored 58 runs in 3 innings and in each innings, MS Dhoni has tried to score quickly. Dhoni has been dismissed only once in the IPL 2023. English All-rounder Moeen Ali has made it clear that the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in India will be his last World Cup. Moeen Ali played an important role for England in the 2019 World Cup held in England. Ali said, “It’s more likely going to be my last 50 over World Cup, so I want to make sure it’s a good one. We want to defend the title, and spin could play a massive role in the World Cup”. England is the defending champions of the 50 over World Cup.
