Mohammed Shami picked up 5 wickets against New Zealand in Dharamshala.

Coming back after a long time in ODI cricket for India, Mohammed Shami has made a statement of authority in pace bowling for India. Shami has picked up another 5-wicket haul for India in the ICC Cricket World Cup. Mohammed Shami has once again testified to his magnificent strike rate as an ODI bowler for India. He made Kiwis struggle in the final overs and helped India restrict New Zealand to just 273 runs at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.

Once New Zealand were looking all set to cross 320 in their innings, But a slight help from the wicket and Mohammed Shami’s tight line of bowling has brought team India into the game. Shami ran riot against New Zealand in the final three overs and dismissed Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry and centurion Daryl Mitchell (130). Shami began by dismissing Mitchell Santner; he was castled in the 4th ball of Shami's 9th over.

Mitchell Santner lost control against Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami delivered a perfect around-the-wicket yorker to New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner, who had no answers. Santner couldn’t come in the right position to block or tackle Shami’s most brutal ball in the spell. Santner couldn’t get his bat down on time and missed the ball completely. Ball went on to rattle the stumps and give New Zealand their ticket to witness a collapse. New Zealand lost all three remaining wickets in the next two overs.

Right in the next ball, Shami dismissed Matt Henry. Shami came over the wicket against Henry and delivered a fuller-length delivery. Henry missed the line and lost his leg stump. Mohammed Shami picked up five wickets in the innings and conceded 54 runs in his 10 overs. Shami also started with a wicket in his first over of the game by dismissing Will Young.

Team India need 274 runs to remain unbeaten in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and hand New Zealand their first loss in the tournament. Daryl Mitchell smashed his fifth ODI century and added a crucial 159 runs partnership with Rachin Ravindra for the third wicket. Mitchell was dismissed on 130 by Mohammed Shami. Rachin Ravindra contributed 75 runs in New Zealand. Along with Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah also bowled well for India.
