Mohammed Shami provides big update on his injury after getting ruled out of IPL 2024

Mohammed Shami will miss IPL 2024 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 due to an injury.
Indian veteran pacer Mohammed Shami has provided a big update regarding his injury after getting ruled out of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. The BCCI confirmed on Tuesday that Gujarat Titans (GT) star pacer Shami will miss the upcoming season of the cash-rich league.
In an official statement released by the BCCI, it was stated that Mohammed Shami is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team after going through surgery on his Achilles Tendon in February.
“The fast bowler successfully underwent surgery on February 26th, 2024, for his right heel problem. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team and is ruled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2024,” BCCI stated on Shami.

Speedster Shami, who has been out of action since the ODI World Cup 2023 final defeat against Australia on November 19, had surgery on his Achilles tendon on February 26 has been on the road to recovery.
In the latest post shared on his official handle, ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Shami provided an update that he got his stitches removed after the surgery. The 33-year-old also wrote that he is looking forward to the next stage of his healing journey.
“Hello everyone! I wanted to provide an update on my recovery progress. It has been 15 days since my surgery, and I recently had my stitches removed. I am thankful for the advancements I have achieved and looking forward to the next stage of my healing journey,” Mohammed Shami wrote on X.

Mohammed Shami ruled out of ICC T20 World Cup 2024?
BCCI secretary Jay Shah had earlier informed that Indian pacer Mohammed Shami is aiming to return in action during the home test series against Bangladesh later this year.
“Shami’s surgery is done, he is back in India. Shami’s return is likely for the home series against Bangladesh,” Jay Shah said.
Since playing an important role with the ball in India’s ODI World Cup 2023 campaign in which he bagged 24 wickets to finish on top of the bowling charts, Shami has missed two crucial test series against South Africa (Away) and England (Home).
