England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. The visitors posted a gigantic total of 587/10 in the first innings. Shubman Gill hammered an impeccable knock of 269 runs to demolish England bowlers in the first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal (87) and Ravindra Jadeja (89) also made crucial contributions with the bat.
England failed to get a good start with the bat as they lost their three top-order batsmen cheaply. While Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope lost their wickets for duck, Zak Crawley scored 19 runs.

In the first session on day three, Siraj provided his team with crucial breakthroughs by dismissing Joe Root and Ben Stokes. In the 22nd over, Siraj dismissed both of them in back-to-back deliveries. While Root lost his wicket for 22 runs, Stokes bagged a golden duck.
Both the England batters got an edge and were caught by wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant.
Notably, Siraj and Akash Deep have delivered a brilliant bowling performance for India. Both of them combined to clinch first five wickets. Harry Brook and Jamie Smith, however, slammed centuries on day three.
Meanwhile, senior India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the Edgbaston test to manage his workload. Akash replaced him in the playing XI. Many cricket experts slammed India for resting Bumrah in the encounter, who picked a five-wicket haul in the first test at Headingley, Leeds. England lead the five-match test series 1-0.
