Mohammed Siraj’s last-over sixes led India to victory in SLCXI vs IND warmup Test.

The Indian Cricket Team finished their three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI on a winning note after an entertaining contest at the NCC Ground in Colombo. The practice game gave both teams some valuable inputs ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series, with several Indian players having excellent performances in the practice game.

India had to chase 207 in the fourth inning; Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill gave a good start to the team. While the top-order laid the foundation, Sri Lanka Cricket XI fought back and took some crucial wickets to keep the match alive.

With 23 runs still needed from the final two overs, the match became quite interesting. India still needed to finish, but Mohammed Siraj surprised everyone by hitting four sixes, including three in the final over and led India to seal the chase in a spectacular manner.

With India needing 23 runs in the last two overs, the match was heading toward a draw. Mohammed Siraj first cleared the boundary with a huge six in the 44th over, and then the Indian pacer smashed three consecutive sixes against spinner Keshara Nuwantha. With Siraj’s unbeaten 32, India successfully chased the target.

There were plenty of positives for India during the practice match. Devdutt Padikkal scored a brilliant century in the first innings, Ravindra Jadeja contributed with both bat and ball, while captain Shubman Gill returned after recovering from a finger injury and smashed 44 runs.

With the practice match now completed, Team India will shift its full focus to the opening Test in Galle, which will start on August 15. Shubman Gill and co will aim to begin the series with a victory and gain important World Test Championship points.
