Mohsin Naqvi did not hand over Asia Cup 2025 trophy to Indian Cricket Team after final.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi has apologised to Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) over Asia Cup 2025 trophy row. He has also agreed to return the silverware to India but wants skipper Suryakumar Yadav to collect the trophy and medals from the ACC office in Dubai. However, that demand too has been denied by the Indian body.
After defeating Pakistan Cricket Team in Asia Cup 2025 final on September 28 in Dubai, Indian Cricket Team refused to receive the trophy from Naqvi during the post-match presentation. As a result, Naqvi did not hand over the trophy and winners’ medals to the Indian team and took away the silverware with him.
Later, India celebrated their victory at the podium without the trophy. BCCI later issued a strong statement on the matter and asked the ACC chairman to return the trophy and medals to them.

BCCI rejects Mohsin Naqvi’s demand to collect Asia Cup 2025 trophy from Dubai- Reports
According to reports by India Today, Naqvi softened his tone and apologised to BCCI during the ACC meeting on September 30. However, he maintained that the Indian captain should collect the medals and trophy from the ACC office in Dubai.
However, BCCI has rejected this condition from Naqvi and demanded a handover as per the protocols of the ACC rules. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has argued that the trophy belongs to the ACC institution and not any particular individual. He also criticised Naqvi for taking both the trophy and medals without a proper handover.
Earlier, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia revealed that the Indian team decided not to receive the trophy for Naqvi, who is also a minister in the Pakistan government.
“We have decided not to accept the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from the ACC chairman, who happens to be one of the senior leaders of Pakistan. That was a conscious decision,” he said.
Saikia also added that Naqvi’s action was ‘extremely unfortunate and unsportsmanlike’, and he should return the trophy as per protocols.
