Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), seething with his humiliation during Asia Cup 2025 trophy presentation, has reportedly laid out one more condition for the Indian Cricket Team to get their winners’ medals and the Asia Cup trophy.

India won all three of the tournament’s meetings between the two sides, including the championship game. The PCB was enraged by India’s “no-handshake policy” with Pakistani players during the event.

Following the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 Indian tourists were shot dead by terrorists supported by Pakistan, tensions between the two neighbours are at an all-time high.

PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi had posted an instigating story on his Instagram featuring Cristiano Ronaldo’s video, to signal a downed plane, trying to indicate the Pakistani fabled claim of downing 6 Indian Rafale jets during Operation Sindoor.

After India defeated Pakistan in the final of Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai on Sunday, September 28, the Indian team refused to take the trophy and medals from Mohsin Naqvi, who was present on the stage. The Indian team suggested receiving medals from Aminul Islam, the Bangladesh board representative, while taking the trophy from the Emirates board vice-president.

However, Mohsin Naqvi got angered at the suggestion and instead left the podium, taking the Asia Cup trophy and the medals with him to his hotel room. The Indian team celebrated without the trophy in the aftermath.

According to reports, Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), has added a new need to break Asia Cup 2025 impasse after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) rejected his request for a trophy handover ceremony.

BCCI officials Rajeev Shukla and Ashish Shelar put Naqvi on the defensive during an ACC meeting on Tuesday by requesting that the trophy be stored in the ACC office in Dubai before being sent to India.

Naqvi, on the other hand, was unwilling to comply with the requests. Naqvi even disputed the trophy handover topic being brought up in the meeting because it wasn’t on the initial agenda, according to the Geo Super report.

“This item was not on the ACC meeting agenda,” Naqvi told Rajeev Shukla during a virtual meeting.

As the BCCI insisted on the trophy being returned, Naqvi said as per the report: “If the Indian team wants the trophy, the captain can come to the ACC office and collect it from me.”

When Naqvi refused to cooperate, the BCCI also warned the head of the ACC and PCB that if the trophy isn’t given to the Indian team within a certain amount of time, a complaint will be filed with the ICC.

“It was made clear that the BCCI will complain to the ICC, and Shelar briefly left the meeting,” PTI quoted a source as saying.
