Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi is unlikely to attend the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) executive board meeting in Dubai, according to reports by PTI. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to raise the Asia Cup 2025 trophy issue during the ICC meet, which is scheduled to take place from November 4 to 7.
In September, Naqvi was at the centre of controversy for not handing over the Asia Cup 2025 trophy to Indian Cricket Team. After Suryakumar Yadav & Co. refused to accept the silverware from Naqvi during the post-match presentation, an ACC official took the trophy away from the ground on Naqvi’s instructions.
Later, he insisted that the someone from BCCI or Indian Cricket Team should take the trophy from him at ACC headquarters in Dubai and ordered the ACC staff not to remove the silverware from the headquarters. The BCCI wrote a letter to ACC asking for the trophy to be sent to Mumbai, however, he was firm on his stance.

A PCB source informed PTI that Naqvi, who is also an interior minister in Pakistan government, will miss the ICC meeting due to domestic political issues in the country. However, the source did not elaborate on the exact political issue.
The reports also suggested that Sumair Syed, PCB’s Chief Operating Officer, will attend the ICC’s board meeting in Dubai in case Naqvi is unable to travel to Dubai. Notably, Naqvi has not attended ICC meetings since Jay Shah was elected as the Chairman of the apex body last year.
After the Asia Cup 2025 trophy row, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia had said that they will raise the matter in the ICC meeting in November. He also reckoned that BCCI’s primary focus at the moment is to bring back the Asia Cup 2025 trophy to India.
