Two bowlers have taken more than 40 wickets in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history.

The first edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was played in 2009. Since then, the elite ICC tournament has seen many legendary cricketers who gave their heart and soul for their nations to win the elusive title.

The Women’s T20 World Cup brings the best bowlers clashing against the best T20 batters in the world.

Given the fast nature of the T20I matches, the bowlers often produce momentum-shifting and game-changing spells. Some have even turned matches within an over.

On that note, let’s take a look at the top five bowlers with the most wickets in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history.

5. Stafanie Taylor (WI-W) – 33 wickets

Stafanie Taylor is one of the greatest women’s cricketers of all time. The Jamaican-born all-rounder is the only West Indies player to feature on this list of the top five bowlers with the most wickets in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history.

The all-rounder has snapped 33 wickets in 31 matches in this competition at an average of 15.51, including one four-wicket haul.

4. Ellyse Perry (AUS-W) – 40 wickets

Hailed as the greatest women’s cricket by many, Ellyse Perry is the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history. Perry has played 42 matches and taken 40 wickets at an average of 17.67. Her best bowling figures in the tournament are 3/12.

3. Megan Schutt (AUS-W) – 40 wickets

Veteran Australian seamer Megan Schutt has produced many match-winning performances in international cricket. The 31-year-old is the third-highest wicket-taker in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history.

The right-arm speedster has taken 40 wickets in just 27 outings at an outstanding average of 12.27 in the prestigious tournament’s history. She also has two four-wicket hauls to her name.

2. Anya Shrubsole (ENG-W) – 41 wickets

Former England bowler Anya Shrubsole took 102 wickets in 79 matches in her WT20I career. She was known for her swing, which dismantled many fine top-order batters.

Talking about the Women’s T20 World Cup, Shrubsole took 41 wickets in 27 matches at an average of 12.48. Her best figures in the Women’s T20 World Cup are 3/6.

1. Shabnim Ismail (SA-W) – 43 wickets

Shabnim Ismail is the greatest South African bowler in WT20Is. The right-arm speedster has played 113 matches and picked up 123 wickets.

Ismail is also the leading wicket-taker in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history with 43 wickets in 32 matches at an average of 15.25. The veteran seamer’s best figures are 3/5 in the marquee tournament.
