MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to field first against LSG in CSK's 10th match of the IPL 2023.

MS Dhoni has continued to keep his fans and followers guessing about his impending IPL retirement as he made a quizzical statement when he came out to toss for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK)- Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 3 in their IPL 2023 encounter at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

The Chennai Super Kings captain is the most successful Indian cricket captain ever with three ICC titles while being at the helm of the side. While he retired from international cricket in 2020, Dhoni has been a constant for CSK in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Speculations have been rife that MS Dhoni might retire after this IPL 2023. Whether in Kolkata, Jaipur, or Lucknow, Dhoni, and CSK have received a ton of support. This is the 'final phase' of his career, according to Dhoni. However, neither Dhoni nor CSK's side has made an official announcement about it.

At the toss of the IPL 2023 match against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow, Dhoni was asked by Danny Morrison: "Clearly this wonderful swansong tour, your last. How are you enjoying it?"

MS Dhoni said: "You have decided it is my last (smiles).”

Dhoni, who had won the toss added: “We'll bowl first. The fact that the wicket was under covers and it looks a bit tacky, so we'll look to bowl first. You have to see all conditions and venue. For us, Deepak (Chahar) is fit, so he comes in for Akash (Singh). The rest of the team is the same."

KL Rahul is a big loss, he's a quality player: LSG captain Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya is captaining the Lucknow Super Giants instead of KL Rahul, who suffered a hip flexor injury against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Krunal called the loss of Rahul a big one as he is a quality player.

LSG has included Manan Vohra and Karan Sharma in the playing XI, while Mohsin Khan makes his first appearance in this IPL.

Chennai Super Kings Playing XI:

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Deepak Chahar, Matheesha Pathirana, Tushar Deshpande, Maheesh Theekshana.
