[Watch] MS Dhoni spotted with ice pack on left calf giving injury concerns to CSK
MS Dhoni played a solid knock despite CSK’s 20-run loss to DC in Vizag.
MS Dhoni was a busy man late Sunday night at Visakhapatnam’s Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, where he was playing against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2024. After a stunning 37* from 16 balls, albeit in a losing cause for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Dhoni hosted a master lesson for DC youths, who crowded around the India great to pick his brain.
When Dhoni came out to bat at No. 8 for CSK on Sunday in a chase of 192, the game was way out of reach. However, keeping the net run rate in mind, and to oblige the Chennai fans who had assembled in large numbers in Vizag.
Batting for the first time in this IPL 2024, Dhoni scored four boundaries and three sixes in his unbeaten innings, which included a 20-run last over. Dhoni scored at a strike rate of more than 231 in that whirlwind cameo, displaying some amazing power-hitting, including a spectacular one-handed six.
However, CSK could only manage 171 runs and lost their first match in this IPL 2024 by 20 runs to DC.
MS Dhoni seen with an ice-pack on his left calf muscle
Following the match, MS Dhoni was approached by a handful of Vizag groundstaff, before gathering the rest and posing for a shot with them.
The kind act went viral on social media, but a video of the incident showed the 42-year-old in excruciating pain as he walked towards the groundsmen, wearing an ice pack to his left calf muscle.

While that may cause anxiety given that the competition has only just begun, Dhoni will get a four-day recuperation period before CSK’s next IPL 2024 game on April 5 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
