MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli were last seen together during the IPL 2024 match between RCB and CSK.
Former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni has opened up about his on-field relationship with Virat Kohli. The iconic duo shared some of the unforgettable moments in Indian cricket over the last decade and a half, be it lifting the ICC ODI World Cup 2011 in India or clinching the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 in England.
The legendary wicket-keeper batter Dhoni was last seen playing cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Ahead of the event, Dhoni stepped away from the Chennai Super Kings captaincy after he passed the baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Throughout the 2024 edition, Dhoni was struggling with his knee, but despite that, the 43-year-old didn’t miss a single game in the tournament.
We make sure to talk for some time: Dhoni on his meetings with Kohli
Former India World Cup-winning skipper MS Dhoni spoke about his relationship with the 35-year-old Virat Kohli. During an event in Hyderabad, the legendary cricketer Dhoni said that whenever they meet, the duo make sure to have a chat with each other.
Dhoni recalled his partnerships with Kohli, saying that it used to be fun to bat with Kohli because of their mutual understanding while running between the wickets.
“We have been colleagues who played for India for a very long time. He (Kohli) has been amongst the best when it comes to world cricket. And the fact that I could bat a lot with him during the middle overs was a lot of fun because we used to take a lot of twos and threes in the game, so it has always been fun,” said Dhoni in an event in Hyderabad.
“It is not like we meet very often, but whenever we get a chance, we make sure that we go on the side and chat for some time, we will talk about what is going on, so that is our relationship.”
On June 29, the 35-year-old Virat Kohli announced his T20I retirement after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Kohli played a match-winning knock against South Africa in the final, where he scored 76 runs.
Currently, the right-handed batter is participating in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
