Watch: MS Dhoni's lightning fast stumping to send back GT run-machine Shubman Gill in IPL 2023 final
MS Dhoni turned back the clock with his lighting fast stumping yet again to send back GT opener.
There was an MS Dhoni masterclass behind the stumps in the IPL 2023 final. Chennai Super Kings are taking on Gujarat Titans for their 5th IPL title. After a washout on Sunday, the final was postponed to Monday. The action began after Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni after winning the toss, invited Gujarat Titans to bat first. CSK got a big fish as soon as the power play ended. In-form Titans opener Shubman Gill had to walk back to the dugout on 39 runs score in his 20-ball innings. MS Dhoni with his usual best behind the stumps provided the Titans their first blow in the final. MS Dhoni was at his lightning best once again.
MS Dhoni's lightning speed behind the wicket
Just after the powerplay, when Ravindra Jadeja was brought in to bowl his first over of the game. Gill was batting superbly in the powerplay and had added 67 runs partnership along with wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha. Jadeja bowled a tight over and got a sharp turn in his last ball of the 7th over. Gill came forward to drive but he was completely deceived by the turn and missed it by miles. In the meantime, MS Dhoni in just a fraction of a second collected and took the bails off with his usual lightning speed. Gill got no time in between completing his shot to put his foot back in the crease.
MS Dhoni is known for his speed behind the wicket. When he senses an opportunity he never gives the batter any chance at all. Shubman Gill was scoring heavily in the last 4-5 games. Gill ended up his season with 890 runs in 17 games this season. Gill will be awarded the orange cap as well. He was a big concern for CSK in the final, he could have taken the game away from CSK camp with his superb acceleration in the middle. So far, Gujarat Titans have got off to a great start.
