Mujeeb Ur Rahman scored 28 runs and picked three wickets against England in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

In the 13th encounter of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Afghanistan emerged victorious over England by a significant margin of 69 runs. However, it was more than just a cricketing triumph for Afghan team, as they registered their first victory in the tournament and second in overall World Cup history. Afghanistan are now at the sixth position in the points table.

Star spinner, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, delivered a spectacular performance, picking three wickets earning him the man of the match award. Earlier in the first innings, Mujeeb scored 28 runs in a cameo. What made this victory even more heart-warming was Mujeeb's decision to dedicate his award to the earthquake victims in Afghanistan.

Mujeeb after winning the award dedicated it to the people who were affected in the earthquake in Afghanistan. Another Afghan bowler, Rashid Khan, had earlier pledged to donate his entire World Cup fee to assist those affected by the earthquake.

Mujeeb during the presentation ceremony said,

"This trophy is for the people back home who were affected by the earthquake in Herat. This whole win is for them." His words echoed throughout the stadium, touching the hearts of cricket fans worldwide."

His words serve as a powerful reminder that athletes like Mujeeb Ur Rahman have the ability to extend their influence beyond the cricket field, bringing hope and support to those in need. It is gestures like these that make sports such a unifying and inspirational force, transcending boundaries and bringing communities together in times of adversity.

Afghanistan posted a total of 284 runs in their 50 overs, thanks to significant contributions from Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who scored 80 runs, and Ikram Alikhil, who displayed remarkable composure in his innings of 58. On the bowling front, it was Mujeeb Ur Rahman who made a notable impact with figures of 3 wickets for 51 runs in his 10-overs spell.

England were bundled out for 215 runs and lost their second match of the tournament.
