Musheer Khan sustains fracture in road accident, will miss Irani Cup and Ranji Trophy matches - Reports

Musheer Khan recently scored 181 runs against India A in the Duleep Trophy 2024.

Mumbai batsman Musheer Khan, who is the younger brother of Sarfaraz Khan, will miss the upcoming Irani Cup 2024 and the initial matches of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 after being involved in a road accident.

The promising young Mumbai batter has played nine First Class (FC) cricket matches till now, in which he has scored 716 runs at an average of 51.14. The right-handed batter has made three centuries and one half-century in FC cricket. With the ball, the left-arm spinner has bagged eight wickets at an average of 26.87.

In the recently concluded Duleep Trophy 2024, the 19-year-old scored a match-winning knock of 181 runs for India B against India A that helped his side clinch the match by 76 runs.

Musheer Khan suffers a fracture in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh

According to a report in the Times of India, Musheer Khan was travelling with his father, Naushad Khan, for the Irani Cup match when the road accident took place. The report further revealed that the cricketer has suffered a fracture, but the details of the accident and injuries are awaited.

“He didn’t travel with Mumbai team to Lucknow for the Irani Cup. He was probably traveling from his native place, Azamgarh, with his father, to Lucknow when the accident took place,” the TOI report stated.

The TOI report further stated that Musheer was set to be picked in the India A squad for the upcoming tour of Australia later this year after impressive performances in his brief FC career so far.

Musheer was part of the Ranji Trophy-winning Mumbai team that will play in the upcoming Irani Cup 2024 against the Rest of India. The one-off red-ball game is scheduled to be played from October 1 to October 5 in Lucknow.

There is no official statement made by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) about Musheer’s accident yet. It is expected that the Mumbai selectors will soon pick a replacement for Musheer.
