Naman Dhir got injured while bowling in the second IND vs WI ODI.
India are taking on West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series in Guwahati on September 30. The visitors came into the game with a 1-0 lead after winning the opening ODI in Thiruvananthapuram by eight wickets.
The second match is important for both sides, with India looking to seal the series and West Indies trying to make a comeback. The hosts won the toss and chose to bowl first.
India have made one change to their playing XI for the second ODI, with Auqib Nabi coming into the team for Nitish Kumar Reddy. West Indies, meanwhile, made four changes as they looked to bounce back after the defeat in the first game.
West Indies made a strong start with John Campbell scoring a quick century. After his dismissal, Shai Hope and Amir Jangoo kept the scoreboard moving and put the Indian bowlers under pressure.

India suffered a blow in the 36th over as Naman Dhir was forced to leave the field due to a left ankle injury. Dhir was initially thought to be dealing with cramps, with the physio coming onto the field to check on him.
The update then revealed that it was not cramps. Dhir had twisted his left ankle twice within a few seconds and was eventually seen walking off the field. Auqib Nabi came on to complete the over, while Nitish Kumar Reddy took the field as the substitute fielder.
Just before the injury, Naman Dhir had been involved in the fielding action at deep, with Rohit Sharma making an excellent effort to save a boundary. Naman Dhir had also taken catches to dismiss Keacy Carty and Campbell earlier in the innings.
At the time Naman Dhir walked off, West Indies were 277/2 after 35.5 overs, with Hope and Jangoo continuing their strong partnership. India will now await further updates on Dhir’s ankle before knowing the extent of the injury.
The injury came at a difficult time for India as West Indies were building a big score in the second ODI. Dhir had already played a useful role in the field, and his absence means India will have to continue with a substitute fielder for the rest of his time off the field.
There is no official update yet on how serious Naman Dhir’s ankle injury is. The Indian team will be hoping for a positive update as the match moves towards the final overs.
