Naseem Shah dismissed Axar Patel for 20 runs in the IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2024 match on June 9.
In the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 match between India and Pakistan, Indian all-rounder Axar Patel was outclassed by a brilliant delivery of Pakistan right-arm speedster Naseem Shah at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 9.
After Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and opted to field first, the Men in Green bowlers gave their side a desired start.
Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled the first over of the match and gave away eight runs. Right-arm pacer Naseem bowled the second over and he was stuck for a boundary by opener Virat Kohli on the very first delivery. However, Naseem took his revenge by dismissing Kohli on third ball of the over.
With Pakistan looking to build more pressure, Babar continued with Shaheen for the third over. On the fourth ball of the over, Shaheen dismissed Indian skipper Rohit Sharma.
Naseem Shah shatters Axar Patel’s stumps
With India in a spot of bother, the Indian team management made a surprise call and promoted all-rounder Axar to No. 4 position ahead of Suryakumar Yadav.
Axar, along with Rishabh Pant started to play positive cricket as they took Men in Blue to 50/2 at the end of sixth over. With their partnership bringing India back in the game, Babar recalled Naseem to bowl the eighth over.
This move worked for Pakistan as Naseem removed Axar on the fourth ball of the over. The right-arm speedster bowled a length delivery in the line of the stumps. Axar ran down the track and tried to play across the line. The Indian batter got nowhere near the ball and it crashed into the stumps.
The Indian all-rounder departed after scoring crucial 20 runs which included two fours and one maximum.
