Nat Sciver Brunt missed the previous game against New Zealand in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to witness an exciting game on July 2, as England Women and South Africa Women will clash in the semi-final 2 of the tournament. Australia Women have already reached the final, and will face winner of the today’s semi-final in the summit clash at The Lord’s on July 5.
The semi-final 2 between ENG-W and SA-W is all set to take place at Kennington Oval in London. While England have been unbeaten in the tournament so far, winning all of their five games, South Africa faced a loss in their first encounter against Australia but made a strong comeback, winning rest of their matches.
Notably, England captain Nat Sciver Brunt missed the last three games due to an injury. She featured in the opening two games against Sri Lanka Women and Ireland Women, where she played match-winning knocks in both encounters.
She got injured in the clash against Ireland, a recurrence of her previous calf injury sustained in April, and then was forced to miss rest of the games.

Notably, Brunt has recovered from her calf injury and has also started batting in the nets. However, she is not fully fit for running between the wickets and fielding. Reports from The Guardian on July 1 stated that the England captain is fit enough to play in the crucial semi-final 2 on July 2.
“I’ve been put through my recovery paces and worked really hard to get myself to this position. I’m really happy to be sat here. We’ve tested it [my calf] enough to be comfortable. Myself and the medical team are really happy with where we’re at. Everything has gone to plan,” Brunt was quoted as saying by The Guardian.
She added that many batters are ready to leave their spots for her return, while Sophia Dunkley wishes to return the captaincy to her in the semi-finals. Notably, Dunkley has been leading England Women after Brunt’s ouster.
“Lots of different people have stood up,”“Someone’s going to be really disappointed tomorrow. She (Sophia Dunkley) is happy to pass it [the captaincy] back. she said she definitely didn’t want to do any more media,” said Sciver-Brunt with a laugh.
Brunt played a great innings against Sri Lanka Women, scoring an unbeaten 46 runs to play a crucial role in the team’s victory. The England all-rounder scored 48 in the second game against Ireland, which was her last appearance.
Meanwhile, England Women will aim for their second title in the Women’s T20 World Cup, having won the inaugural edition in 2009. South Africa look forward to their first-ever title in the tournament’s history.
