Washington Sundar was bought by GT for Rs. 3.20 crore in IPL 2025 mega auction.

Gujarat Titans (GT) head coach Ashish Nehra has declined the idea of trading all-rounder Washington Sundar to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, according to reports by Cricbuzz. A few weeks ago, there were reports that CSK are interested in acquiring Sundar in their squad for the next season.

The Men in Yellow explored the idea of having the Indian all-rounder in their side following Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirement from IPL. However, Nehra refused the idea of trading the spin all-rounder from their squad and conveyed his decision to the five-time champions.

The GT management had already made it clear long ago that they have no intention to part ways with a player they have heavily invested in. GT shelled out Rs. 3.20 crore to acquire Sundar during the IPL 2025 auction.

The 26-year-old featured in only six games for the Titans in IPL 2025, scoring 133 runs at a strike rate of 166.25 and clinching two wickets at an economy of 10.25. However, since the last season, he has become an all-format player for India.

Sundar was part of the Shubman Gill-led India in the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy 2025, where he slammed his maiden test century against England at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, in the fourth test. He also clinched a four-wicket haul in the third game at The Lord’s.

In the ongoing India tour of Australia 2025, the spin all-rounder was inducted into both ODI and T20I squads. In the recent third T20I against Australia at Bellerive Oval in Hobart, he smacked a match-winning knock of unbeaten 49 runs of 23 balls, helping India chase a 187-run target by five wickets.
