Nepal announce 15-man squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024; Rohit Paudel to lead

Nepal will kick off their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on June 4 against Netherlands.

Nepal have announced their provisional 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The much-awaited tournament will be played in the Caribbean Islands and the USA in the month of June. The United States will be hosting its first ICC tournament.

The 21-year-old Rohit Paudel is all set to take responsibility to lead the young Nepal squad in the upcoming ICC event. The line-up consists of young players who have performed well in the recently concluded ACC Premier Cup in Oman and also in the ongoing West Indies A T20I series.

Skipper Paudel smashed a century against WI A in the first game of the five-match series and will look to continue his batting form in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. 

All-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee has also been named in the squad. Airee hammered six sixes in an over against Qatar in April during the ACC Premier Cup. Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh will take the batting responsibilities at the top, along with the hard-hitting duo of Airee and skipper Paudel.

Apart from many young players, Nepal have also included two fast pacers, Karan Khatri and Sompal Kami, in their squad. Left-arm spinner Lalit Rajbanshi will lead the spin bowling attack for Nepal.

Nepal will start their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on June 4 against the Netherlands in Texas. The side is placed in Group D alongside Bangladesh, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.
