Eight New Zealand batsmen have scored over 10000 runs in international cricket.

New Zealand made their international debut in 1930, and they are one of the oldest teams in international cricket. Over the years, many superstars have played cricket for this team.

From Martin Crowe to Stephen Fleming and Ross Taylor to Kane Williamson, New Zealand have produced some great batting icons over the period. A total of eight batters have scored over 10,000 runs for New Zealand in international cricket.

Martin Crowe was the first Kiwi batter to cross the 10000-run mark in international cricket. In this article, we will talk about the top five run-scorers for New Zealand in international cricket (Tests+ODIs+T20Is).

5. Martin Guptill – 13463 runs

Martin Guptil was one of the best Kiwi openers of all time. He is still the only Kiwi batter with a double hundred in ODI cricket. Guptill made his debut in 2009 and was part of the team until 2022.

He represented New Zealand in 367 matches and scored 13463 runs at an average of 35.90 and 23 centuries and 76 half-centuries with a best of 237 not out.

4. Brendon McCullum – 14676 runs

The former Kiwi captain Brendon McCullum was known for his aggressive tactics and batting style. He was one of the most explosive Kiwi batters of all time. McCullum is the only New Zealander to score a test triple hundred.

He played 432 matches across formats and scored 14676 runs at an average of 34.37 in international cricket. McCullum had 19 centuries and 76 half-centuries, with a high score of 302 runs.

3. Stephen Fleming – 15289 runs

When you talk about New Zealand cricket, you can’t miss out Stephen Fleming. Fleming made his debut for the Kiwis in 1994 and played until 2008. He played a total of 395 matches for his nation, in which, he captained the side in 303 games.

Fleming played a total of 111 tests and 280 ODIs and five T20Is for his country, in which he amassed 15289 runs. He was the first ever New Zealand cricketer to go past 15000-run mark in international cricket.

2. Ross Taylor – 18199 runs

Ross Taylor played most matches for New Zealand in international cricket. He made his debut in 2006 and was the first Kiwi cricketer to play at least 100 matches in all three formats.

He played 350 matches overall and scored 18199 runs at an average of 42.72 with a best of 290. Taylor scored 40 centuries and 93 half-centuries in international cricket.

Kane Williamson is arguably the best batter that New Zealand have produced in international cricket. He has most runs, most centuries, the best average, and most half-centuries for New Zealand.

Williamson is still going strong and is the backbone of New Zealand’s batting unit since a decade or so. He made his debut in 2010 and has played 359 matches so far and scored 18213 runs at an average of 48.18.

Williamson has 45 centuries and 98 half-centuries with a best of 251. Under his captaincy, New Zealand won the ICC World Test Championship 2019-21.
