New Zealand unveiled their kit for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Monday.
New Zealand have revealed their jersey for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. New Zealand will be playing the opening game of the tournament against England at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. New Zealand have kept their iconic black colour intact in the jersey. They have recently played a four-match ODI series against England, where they lost by 1-3.
Before arriving in India, New Zealand will also be taking on Bangladesh in a three-match ODI series as World Cup preparations. New Zealand’s tour of Bangladesh will begin on 21st September at Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur.
New Zealand unveil new jersey
New Zealand Cricket revealed the jersey on social media platform X (Twitter). New Zealand Cricket (Blackcaps) posted a thread on Twitter with pictures of pacer Lockie Ferguson, wicket-keeper Tom Latham, and pacer Trent Boult in the new jersey. With iconic black colours, the jersey carries a set of vertical lines in it. Vertical lines give a little retro look to the jersey, giving a sense of history in New Zealand cricket.
A shade of grey has also been added in the look in the sleeves to give the jersey a better look. New Zealand fans are thrilled after a new look special jersey for the special event coming in October this year. New Zealand will wear the new jersey during their opening warm-up fixture against Pakistan on 29th September at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
New Zealand had recently announced their 15-member squad with Kane Williamson returning as skipper. Williamson will be making a comeback after a long break due to an ACL injury he suffered in the IPL 2023 opening fixture against Chennai Super Kings while playing for Gujarat Titans.
New Zealand have a big injury concern before entering into the tournament as Tim Southee injured his thumb while playing the last ODI against England in the four-match ODI series. NZ are still hopeful that Southee will make himself fit before they enter the big tournament. New Zealand played finals in the previous two editions in 2015 and 2019. They missed out on the championship closely against England in 2019.
