New Zealand announce strong squad for India T20Is; Rachin Ravindra misses out

The New Zealand vs India T20I series is set to start on October 22.
India are set for another important white-ball assignment later this year as they travel to New Zealand for a long multi-format tour. The tour will feature five T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests, giving both teams a packed schedule across formats.
The T20I series will be the first part of the tour and is scheduled to begin on October 22 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The five matches will be played across Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland and Hamilton before the teams shift their focus on to the ODI series in November.
New Zealand have now announced their squad for the T20I series. Mitchell Santner will lead a 16-member squad, with most of the players from their T20 World Cup campaign retained.

Santner will continue as team’s T20I captain as the team prepares for the five-match series. The squad includes experienced names such as Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell and Lockie Ferguson.
Thirteen players from the T20 World Cup squad have been retained. Michael Bracewell and Adam Milne are the two notable players returning after missing the tournament due to injuries.
The biggest absence from the New Zealand squad is Rachin Ravindra. The all-rounder has been ruled out after dislocating his right shoulder during a promotional shoot last week.
New Zealand head coach Rob Walter said the team is disappointed by the injury but does not want Ravindra to rush his recovery.
“We’re gutted for Rachin. He’s going to play a big role for us this summer, so it’s important that he doesn’t rush his rehab, but we’re optimistic he’ll be back for the ODIs,” Walter said.
Adam Milne is back in the setup after more than a year away from international cricket. He last played against Zimbabwe and now adds more experience to the team’s pace attack.
Michael Bracewell also returns after missing the T20 World Cup through injury. His off-spin and batting give blackcaps another all-round option.
