Nitish Kumar Reddy will join team again for the second test against South Africa.
The Indian Cricket Team have made a massive change to their squad for the test series against the South African Cricket Team. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been released from the squad for the first match of the series, to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, starting 14 November.
The release of Nitish Kumar Reddy from the squad for the first test came after Indian assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate almost confirmed that Dhruv Jurel will be playing as a specialist batter and the all-rounder will have to warm the bench.
Dhruv Jurel has been in top-notch form in red-ball cricket of late. In the last series against the West Indies, he hammered a brilliant century. But, his best came in the second unofficial test between India A and South Africa A, which took place in Bengaluru. The keeper-batter slammed twin centuries and made it tough for the selectors to bench him.
Nitish Reddy will now be joining the India A team for the unofficial ODI series against South Africa A. The three-match series between the teams will be played from 13th to 19th November at the Niranjan Shah Stadium.
Reddy will return to the squad for the second test post the conclusion of the ‘A’ series – BCCI
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released an official statement, confirming about the same. They also mentioned that Nitish Kumar Reddy will join the team ahead of the second match. The statement read:
“All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been released from India’s squad for the first Test against South Africa. Nitish will join the India A squad for the One-day series against South Africa A in Rajkot.
“The three One-days between India A and South Africa A will take place from 13th to 19th November at the Niranjan Shah Stadium. Reddy will return to the squad for the second Test post the conclusion of the ‘A’ series.”
