Trent Boult makes himself unavailable as New Zealand name fresh ODI squad for Bangladesh tour

Tom Latham will lead the New Zealand ODI side against Bangladesh.
New Zealand have announced a 14-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. Bangladesh will be traveling to New Zealand after conclusion of the ongoing two-match test series in their backyard. In a big update, pace bowler Trent Boult has made himself unavailable for the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh. Boult also opted out of NZC central contract previous year, before the big ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
New Zealand have included young Indian-origin leg-spinner Adithya Ashok for the final two T20I games, while Ish Sodhi will be there for the opening game scheduled to be played at the University Oval in Dunedin on Sunday. Pace bowler Will O’Rourke and all-rounder Josh Clarkson have also earned call-ups for international duty. Will O’Rourke has been in top form in the Ford Trophy for Canterbury, while Josh Clarkson also did well for Central Districts.
Injury concerns for New Zealand
Kiwis’ ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 stars Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Tim Southee, Mitchell Santner, Glenn Phillips, and opener Devon Conway have been rested for the upcoming series, while there are some injury concerns as well in the camp. Jimmy Neesham is currently dealing with an ankle injury, and Michael Bracewell is still unfit and in rehabilitation. Lockie Ferguson injured his achilles. Ben Lister is out due to a hamstring injury, while Henry Shipley is dealing with back problems.
Ish Sodhi will be taking a planned break after the first ODI game in Dunedin, and Adithya Ashok will join the squad. Adithya has been doing a magnificent job for Auckland in the domestic circuit. He has played only one T20I game for New Zealand so far, and this will be a great opportunity for the 21-years-old. NZC selector Sam Wells said, “Adi and Will are both still fresh to domestic cricket but have been impressive in their early efforts and stepped up well this year.”
