Noman Ali took 6/41 in West Indies’ first innings of the 2nd test.
38-year-old left-arm spinner Noman Ali became the first-ever Pakistan spinner to claim a hat-trick in test cricket on January 25, 2025. Noman achieved this feat during West Indies’ first innings of the second test of the ongoing series in Multan.
Ali had taken a five-wicket haul in West Indies’ first innings of the first test as well, which was crucial in the hosts’ victory by 127 runs.
In the morning of the day 1 of the second test, Ali rattled the West Indies’ top and middle-order to claim a five-for, which included a hat-trick. This was only the sixth time that a Pakistani bowler took a test hat-trick, and the first time a spinner did it.
Ali’s hat-trick included the wickets of Justin Greaves, Tevin Imlach, and Kevin Sinclair. The trio was dismissed on the first three balls of the 12th over of West Indies’ innings as they slipped to 38/7, and would later become 54/8.
Greaves edged to Babar Azam at second slip while playing a defensive stroke before Imlach missed a full ball in his attempt of a sweep and was trapped lbw. Sinclair was also caught by Babar at second slip as he edged a full ball through his defensive push.
Noman Ali sprinted away and looked up in the skies after completing his hat-trick before he was mobbed by his teammates.

Pakistan had West Indies struggling at 54/8 but the last three batters fought back and took West Indies to 163, which is a respectable total given the pitch is extremely spin-friendly. West Indies bowlers fired back and, at the time of writing, have Pakistan in a precarious position at 51/4.
