Not Rishabh Pant! This player to captain Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 according to official IPL website

Rishabh Pant has been cleared to participate in the IPL 2024 as wicket-keeper batter.
The BCCI’s fitness and medical teams have cleared Rishabh Pant to keep wickets for the Delhi Capitals (DC) during the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). The information on Pant came only a day after BCCI secretary Jay Shah told the media that Pant was “batting well and keeping well,” and might be in contention for a spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad in June.
Pant, who last played senior cricket in December 2022, sustained a significant right knee injury that necessitated ligament repair surgery, as well as fractures to his wrist and ankle in the automobile accident. With the BCCI’s green signal, Pant could return to action as early as March 23, when DC travel Mohali to face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their first match of the season.
Pant began match-simulation exercises in Bengaluru in February 2024, and even participated in a 20-over practice game in Alur, Karnataka, supervised by NCA physios and trainers. Pant was thought to have had no difficulty while batting for the entire 20 overs, and many watching him were pleased with his endurance levels.
Pant, on the other hand, had not been keeping wickets at the time and was recommended to resume that component of his preparation in March.
David Warner shown as captain of DC on IPL website; Questions on Rishabh Pant leading the team
Last month, Capitals’ co-owner Parth Jindal named Pant as the captain of the IPL 2024, stating that he would play as a batter alone for the first half of the season. Even Ricky Ponting, the DC coach, had said that it will depend on Pant’s fitness whether he will play as captain or not.
He hinted in an interview with the ICC, that Pant might play as an impact player, with others keeping wickets, at least in the first half of the tournament.
Meanwhile, when Pant was absent during the IPL 2023, DC handed the captaincy to David Warner of Australia. However, the DC franchise failed to qualify for the playoffs.
According to the official IPL website, David Warner is the captain of DC for IPL 2024. The DC page on the official IPL website still shows David Warner as the captain of the side. And the DC franchise is yet to officially announce who will captain the team in the IPL 2024 – David Warner or Rishabh Pant.
