India recorded their highest T20I chase in the first NZ vs IND game in Christchurch.
India have had a fantastic start to their New Zealand tour. These two sides produced a high-scoring thriller in the first T20I at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
India won the toss and elected to bowl first. New Zealand started well with a 49-run opening stand. Finn Allen (45 off 24) and Tim Seifert (24 off 17) gave them a flying start.
Daryl Mitchell (28 off 19) and Bevon Jacobs (31 off 16) also played cameos. But Glenn Phillips helped New Zealand score a massive 225/4 in the first innings. He remained unbeaten on 82 off 40 balls.
In reply, India also had a flying start with a 93-run stand in just 5.5 overs. Abhishek Sharma scored 29 off 12, and Sanju Samson scored a 23-ball fifty (67 off 33). However, India suffered a mini collapse. They lost three wickets for just seven runs.
But captain Iyer (42 off 28) and Axar Patel (24 off 14) held the innings. After that, Naman Dhir played an excellent cameo to take India over the line for a record chase. He remained unbeaten on 42 off 15 balls, with 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Phillips finished the first game as the leading scorer with 82 runs. Samson is right behind him, smashing a 23-ball fifty. Samson scored 67 off 33 balls. Finn Allen’s 45 off 24 balls puts him third. Naman Dhir and Shreyas Iyer are next; both scored 42 runs each.
