India went from 75/0 to 230 all out as the first SL vs IND ODI ended in a tie.

After the third IND vs SL T20I was tied – it went into Super Over – the first ODI between the two sides also ended in a tie. This time, though, there was no Super Over.

Although there was no winner and loser in this game, it were the hosts who celebrated while the visitors were left disappointed for not having accomplished the target.

The R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo hosted a thrilling SL vs IND ODI match on August 2 as India were bundled out for 230 while chasing the target of 231.

Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka won the toss and elected to bat first. The hosts had a terrible start as they lost their first five wickets for 101 runs, with opener Pathum Nissanka scoring 56 runs.

However, from thereon, the lower-order batters showed a good fight, led by Dunith Wellalage, who scored 67* off 65 balls, to take their side to a fighting total of 230.

Initially, it seemed India would chase down the target with ease when Rohit Sharma went gung-ho to smash 58 runs off 47 balls. However, the hosts stormed back into the game with regular wickets.

India went from 75/0 to 132/5, with both Rohit and Virat Kohli back in the hut. KL Rahul (31) and Axar Patel (33) made important contributions but couldn’t bat till the end. The job for India was left to Shivam Dube, who batted at number eight in this game.

Dube smoked a couple of handsome sixes but he, too, couldn’t get the job done. Hasaranga and Asalanka spun a web towards the end of India’s innings, with the Lankan captain taking the last two Indian wickets in two balls to save his side from a loss.

The second half of the SL vs IND match was thoroughly entertaining and kept the fans on the edge of their seats.

Here is how fans reacted to the 1st IND vs SL ODI match ending in a tie:
