Jofra Archer came up with an all-round performance in Adelaide, picking a fifer and slamming a half-century.
England pace bowler Jofra Archer wrote his name in history books during the third test of Ashes 2025-26 against Australia, which is being played in Adelaide. The 30-year-old, who had taken five wickets in the first innings, also went onto score his maiden fifty in test cricket.
Archer, became the first England player in three decades to achieve this feat against their arch rivals Australia in their own backyard. The last player to manage this was Darren Gough, who just like Archer had scored 51 runs with the bat and managed to grab seven wickets in the game in Sydney during 1995 tour.
It is to be noted that Archer, is the joint fourth highest wicket-taker with eight scalps so far in Ashes 2025-26. The 30-year-old bowled with good pace even as the Australian batters kept scoring runs at fair clip. English pacer picked 5/53 after bowling over 20.2 overs with five maiden overs.

On day two of the Adelaide test, Australian bowlers had put the strangle over the visiting England side. At one stage, Ben Stokes and his side were struggling at 168 for the loss of eight still 203 runs in arrears.
That’s when Archer walked out to bat and curbed his naturally attacking instincts. The 30-year-old added 106 runs for the ninth wicket with Stokes. That stand came in exactly in 30 overs before Stokes got out for 83 by Mitchell Starc.
Archer, got to his fifty in the second ball of the 84th over when he guided the ball for a single past point. English fans were quick to get up in unison and applaud the pacer for his efforts before seeing their side get bowled out for 286, giving Australia lead of 85 runs.
