"There is only one Dhoni.." Dhruv Jurel reacts to early comparisons of him with MS Dhoni

Dhruv Jurel made his India debut during the recently concluded five-match test series against England.
Young Indian wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel made his test debut against England at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. Jurel made a significant impact with his batting performance and glove work during five-match test series against England. Jurel’s batting performances were vital for India in winning the fourth test match of the series against England in Ranchi.
Dhruv Jurel scored 90 runs in the first innings of Ranchi test and took India close to England’s total. Legendary Indian opening batter Sunil Gavaskar was quick enough to draw comparisons between youngster Jurel and MS Dhoni after looking at Jurel’s outstanding performance. Jurel has now once again responded to the high praise he received from former Indian opening batter. Jurel scored 190 runs in four test innings.
Dhruv Jurel talks about MS Dhoni
The young Indian wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel was present at the India Today Enclave and thanked Sunil Gavaskar for his high praises. Jurel said, “Thank you so much Gavaskar sir for comparing me with Dhoni sir. But I want to say personally that no one can replicate what Dhoni sir has done. There is only one Dhoni. Always was and always will be.”
Jurel said that he doesn’t aspire to be someone else but want to take his name forward. Jurel added, “There is only one Dhoni. Always was and always will be. For me, I just want to be Dhruv Jurel. Whatever I do, I want to do as Dhruv Jurel. But Dhoni sir is a legend and he will always remain like that.” Jurel had a terrific IPL for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2023.
Jurel also expressed that he was sure about getting a test cap but earning maiden call-up at an early age was unexpected. Jurel expressed that the feeling hasn’t sunk in yet. He said, “It hasn’t yet sunk in. It was a pleasure to play Tests, the purest form of cricket. I was sure that I would play Test cricket some day and it has been a dream-come-true moment for me.”
